Hello! I’m Ben Fredriksen. I live in Corfe Mullen with my wife, 3 children, a Border Terrier, two Spaniels and a cat. When I get a rare moment of spare time you will find me out on the water paddle boarding the Jurassic coast or walking somewhere in the Dorset countryside with the dogs, but my favourite place to spend time is in my workshop.

Both my grandfathers were carpenters and my own Dad always had a garage full of tools, wood and projects on the go. I was pretty much born with sawdust in my mouth and carpentry is in my DNA. I love wood but I’m also fascinated by modern materials which I see as complimentary to wood. I have used laser cutting, Cnc routing, concrete, steel, glass and epoxy resins in various projects in the past and bring a range of experience to the design table.

I made my first piece of furniture out of concrete in 2002. I had bought a state of the art hi-fi and couldn’t find anything that I thought was good enough to put it on so I made my own stand out of concrete and glass. It was crude and brutally heavy, but I loved it. Its unyielding mass sealed its fate and 3 house moves later it ended its days in a skip, but it sparked a passion for creating furniture that still burns in me.

If you like my work and would like to discuss a project for your home or garden I would love to hear from you. You don’t need to have a fully developed idea or even a design yet, and please don’t be worried about asking questions. Creativity is a journey that rarely ends where it began. Anything is possible, and I’d like to help put those dreams together for you.
